Vietnamese automaker VinFast Auto announced that it has signed agreements with two transportation companies in Indonesia to supply a total of 20,000 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) over the next three years, as the country steps up its transition to zero-emission vehicles.
Indonesia was VinFast’s largest overseas market last year, where it sold almost 11,000 BEVs comprising mostly its VF3 and VF5 models imported from Vietnam. The company launched operations at a new local assembly plant in Subang, West Java province, at the end of last year. The facility has an initial production capacity of 50,000 vehicles per year, employing some 1,700 people.
