Volvo Cars said its forthcoming electric sport utility vehicle (SUV), the EX60, will be capable of travelling up to 810 km on a single charge.

The Swedish carmaker has released technical specifications ahead of the model’s planned debut on 21 January 2026.

Volvo Cars described it as the “longest-range” fully electric vehicle it has produced so far.

The automaker added that the SUV will also support its fastest charging performance to date, with consistent results across different weather conditions.

Volvo Cars CTO Anders Bell said: “The EX60 is designed to be a game changer. With our new electric vehicle architecture, we directly address the main worries that customers have when considering a switch to a fully electric car. The result is class-leading range and fast charging speeds, marking the end of range anxiety.”

The company said the vehicle can gain up to 340 km of range in about ten minutes when connected to a 400kW fast charger.

This charging and range capability is enabled by SPA3, Volvo Cars’ electric vehicle architecture, which incorporates the battery directly into the vehicle structure through cell-to-body technology.

Volvo Cars said the integration of the battery into the car’s structure, combined with in-house developed electric motors and a new battery cell design, enhances energy efficiency while lowering overall vehicle weight.

The EX60 will also be the “first” Volvo model manufactured using mega casting, a process that replaces numerous individual components with a single high-precision casting.

Fast-charging performance is supported by a new 800V electrical system, alongside software developed internally to optimise energy transfer and limit heat generation during charging.

Volvo Cars added that it is using algorithms developed by its portfolio company, Breathe Battery Technologies, to manage charging and optimise battery performance across different operating conditions.

As an electric vehicle with fewer moving parts, the automaker said the EX60 is expected to require less frequent conventional servicing compared with combustion-engine models.

Earlier this week, Volvo Car Malaysia launched pre-sales of its Volvo ES90 battery-powered sedan ahead of local assembly, with the Swedish-based automaker inviting potential customers to register their interest in the model through its official website.
