“We are working on the subject, but we need more time,” a Volkswagen spokesperson in Wolfsburg said on Saturday.


According to the automotive industry trade newspaper Automobilwoche, the manufacturers want to forge a breakthrough of diesel technologies, which are struggling in the wake of Toyota and Honda’s success with hybrids.


The four companies would jointly use and market the Bluetec technology developed by Mercedes-Benz and Bosch.
