In order to meet increasing demand for engine timing systems, BorgWarner says it has nearly doubled the size of its Engine Group manufacturing facility in Pyongtaek, South Korea.

The 90,000-square-foot plant will manufacture engine timing systems for Hyundai/Kia’s family of engines. BorgWarner says that annual volumes are expected to reach over three million engines by 2010.
“Throughout Asia, the demand for high-performance engine timing systems is expected to grow more than 30% over the next five years,” said Alfred Weber, President and General Manager, BorgWarner Morse TEC.
“Our expanded facility enables us to support one of our fastest growing customers through local operations. We are pleased to deliver our engine timing system technology with the benefits of excellent performance, timing precision, durability, and ease of installation to our Asian customers.”
BorgWarner opened its Engine Group campus in Pyongtaek in 2003 to support the company’s growing business relationship with Hyundai/Kia Motor Company. Today, the campus produces Morse TEC engine timing products as well as Turbo & Emissions Systems turbochargers.
