BMW has named Joachim Post as new head of development, succeeding Frank Weber from 1 June 2025.
Joachim Post, who joined BMW in 2002, has been a member of the board of management for purchasing and supplier network since January 2022.

His experience includes leading the product line midsize class BMW within the development division and serving as head of vehicle strategy.
Frank Weber will conclude his role following the successful completion of the Neue Klasse series development.
Commenting on the leadership changes, BMW supervisory board chairman Norbert Reithofer said: “Frank Weber and the entire development division have delivered an exceptional job in recent years to develop BMW’s central future project into series production readiness: the Neue Klasse.
“Frank Weber deserves our sincere gratitude for this achievement. We wish him all the best for the future. And together with the board of management of BMW, we are very much looking forward to the launch of the Neue Klasse at the end of this year.”
Nicolai Martin, currently head of product line BMW Luxury Class and Rolls-Royce, will succeed Joachim Post as the member of the board of management responsible for purchasing and supplier network.
Martin previously held various management positions within the development division.
He also led the driving experience division, overseeing driving dynamics, chassis functions, and automated driving development after working in Total Vehicle and Powertrain.

In February, BMW Group reportedly paused its £600m ($757.9m) investment in the Mini assembly plant near Oxford, UK, citing declining demand for electric vehicles (EVs).
