According to Dow Jones Newswires, Zetsche said the two companies will jointly market the new minivans, which are set to roll out in 2006 – the minivans will be made at China Motor’s plant in Yang Mei, Taiwan.

Dow Jones noted that this will be a significant step in DaimlerChrysler’s strategy for Asia. The minivans will complement passenger-car and commercial-vehicle production in the region, the company reportedly said.

Zetsche told Dow Jones at the Detroit Auto Show that the Taiwan version of the Town & Country will be similar to the US model, with minor variations for the local market. He reportedly said minivans now make up 10% to 12% of the vehicle market in Taiwan.
