Motor vehicle production rose 53% to 862,035. Production of passenger cars grew 52% to 447,152, the report said.


Exports rose by 44% in 2004 to set a new record of 518,607. Passenger car exports grew by 43% in the same year to reach 305,072.


The three largest exporters in 2004 were Ford Otosan (138,169 passenger cars), Oyak Renault (130,903) and Toyota (118,629).


Domestic market sales rose 88% to 753,731 while passenger car sales rose 99% to 451,209, the Turkish Daily News said.
