The association said the number of newly registered imported cars increased by 24.1% to 2,503 units last December from 2,017 in November. The number of newly registered imported cars in 2004 stood at 23,345 units, up 19.8% from 19,481 sold in 2003.
By brand, BMW was the best-selling foreign car with sales of 5,509 units last year, closely followed by Lexus. Mercedes Benz took third place after dealers sold 3,188.
Following Mercedes Benz were Chrysler at 1,736, Honda at 1,475, Ford at 1,388, Volvo at 1,148, Volkswagen at 929, Audi at 807, Peugeot at 528, Cadillac at 385, Saab at 357, Land Rover at 258, Jaguar at 143, Porsche at 99, Ferrari at 13, Maserati at 8, Maybach at 7 and Rolls Royce – which sold five units, chosun.com reported.
