GERMANY: Pininfarina leaves retractable hardtop business to Webasto
Pininfarina has exited from OASys (Open Air Systems) GmbH, its 50:50 joint venture with Webasto AG, originally set up in March 2002. OASys manufactures retractable hard tops at operations in Stockdorf, Germany and Turin, Italy.
Pininfarina has exited from OASys (Open Air Systems) GmbH, its 50:50 joint venture with Webasto AG, originally set up in March 2002. OASys manufactures retractable hard tops at operations in Stockdorf, Germany and Turin, Italy. OASys developed the roof system for the Mini Cabriolet and it has been developing the retractable hardtop for the Golf-based Volkswagen Cabriolet.
Webasto will purchase Pininfarina’s stake and will focus on roof systems, while Pininfarina focuses on vehicle design and sub-contract vehicle assembly.
OASys will remain an exclusive supplier to Pininfarina.
