Italy’s transport ministry is due to announce April’s car sales figures on Wednesday, the report noted.
In April 2003, the Turin-based carmaker had a 28.8% share of 182,800 new car sales which were down nearly 6% year-over-year after the government ended a programme of incentives for consumers to buy new cars, the news agency said.
Fiat, which also owns the Lancia and Alfa Romeo brands, is aiming for a 30-32% share of its home market as it tries to tackle a financial crisis by selling new models, Reuters noted.
