Stellantis is laying off 2,450 factory workers as it ends production of the Ram 1500 Classic truck, news agencies reported.
The layoffs at the Warren Truck assembly plant outside of Detroit would come into effect as early as October, the automaker said.

The plant would move from two shifts to one in general assembly, according to Reuters.
Stellantis was moving focus to the Ram 1500 Tradesmen truck produced at Sterling Heights Assembly.
Stellantis said: “With the introduction of the new Ram 1500, production of the Ram 1500 Classic at the Warren (Michigan) Truck Assembly Plant will come to an end later this year.”
There were about 3,700 workers at the plant represented by the United Auto Workers union, Reuters reported.
Union members who were laid off would receive 52 weeks of supplemental unemployment benefits paid by the company and 52 weeks of transition assistance, Stellantis said.
They would also receive two years of healthcare coverage.
