The commission reportedly said the changes were being made in order to bring the manufacturer’s practices in line with EU competition rules for the car sector.

“These independent repairers may now apply to join the official network of Porsche service centres,” the commission said in a statement cited by Reuters.

“With these modifications, Porsche no longer ties the provision of after-sales services with an obligation to sell new cars,” it reportedly added.

“According to the new distribution system, all Porsche dealers will have the freedom to subcontract after-sales servicing to any authorised Porsche service centre. As already under the previous contracts, dealers will be free to sell cars to consumers from other member states,” it said, according to Reuters.
