The Spanish News Digest reports that Nissan may be considering a shift of production out of Spain. The report, citing trade unions as source, said that Nissan is considering moving production of some upcoming models to its factories in Thailand, Egypt and the UK.

The company will shift production if management and trade unions at the Barcelona factory do not reach an agreement on a collective labour contract aimed at improving the productivity and the flexibility of the plant.
At present, Nissan is reducing the production of the Terrano, Almera Tino and X-83 models in Barcelona. However, if a labour contract for the Spanish plant is not agreed, the company may begin the production of new models in other plants.
At present, the negotiations are in a deadlock.
