Prime-TASS News (Russia) reports that Ford Motor Company’s plant in the Russian city of Vsevolzhsk in the Leningrad Region plans to increase car output 5.6% on the year in 2004 to 25,000 cars, the press service of the Leningrad Region’s government reported Thursday citing the company’s Vice President Steve Beagan.

Beagan met with the region’s Governor Valery Serdyukov earlier in the day.
The company had managed to receive the Russian government’s approval to increase the company’s production quota from 25,000 to 30,000 cars, Beagan said.
The company has increased its output after a third working shift was introduced at the plant in April.
According to the region’s Deputy Governor Grigory Dvas, eventually the company’s annual car output is expected to increase to 50,000 cars and that even this figure “was not final.”
The plant in Vsevolzhsk was officially opened in July 2002. Total investments in the plant amount to U.S. $150 million. In 2003 the company produced 16,261 Ford Focus cars.
