Fiat said it had established the new programme, called The Academy, “to set a new benchmark within the motor industry for training excellence, and to provide individuals with a clear and structured path to achieve their personal development goals”.

Fiat also claimed to have always been at the forefront of training for its dealer staff, adding that its courses “have long been regarded as among the best in the automotive industry”. The Academy is set to expand on the UK importer’s involvement in this field, and assist in raising standards throughout its business and dealer network.

The Academy’s training programmes cover areas such as sales, service, parts, aftersales, finance and fleet, and there are also some degree courses for dealer principals.

Individuals enrolling into courses will first be assessed to decide their training and development requirements. After the assessment, a training path and timings are individually agreed.

By following the programmes, and successfully completing the required training courses, delegates are able to gain professional, industry recognised qualifications from the Institute of the Motor Industry, an established and respected institution in the UK.

The Academy has IMI Approved Training centre status and all training is aligned to Sales Certificate IMI Approved.

In addition, Automotive Skills Limited, a recently established governing body for training with the automotive industry, has joined forces with The Academy to help individuals gain qualifications at the highest level.

Fiat Auto said is is among the first manufacturers in the UK to have its technical training programmes mapped against IMI’s ‘Technical Certificate’ qualifications.
