A recently granted patent (Publication Number: US12012024B2) discloses a unique seat with a headrest design for vehicles. The seat includes a carrier system with two parallel carrier rods forming a bracket at the backrest's upper end, a carrier element with a mounting portion and guide device, a headrest box, an actuator, and a transmission. The headrest box is movable relative to the carrier element and transmission in a displacement direction, with the mounting portion fixed on the carrier system and the headrest box lockable on the guide device.

Furthermore, the patent details the headrest's manual or electric displacement capabilities along the vehicle's transverse, longitudinal, or vertical axis. It also introduces a crash-active headrest with an automatic release unit for displacement along the x-axis. The carrier system's unique negative bend below the headrest provides additional space for headrest movement. Additionally, the carrier system can be integrally bonded to the seat structure, enhancing stability. The design also includes a rear wall opposite the headrest box, covering the carrier system and headrest for added protection and aesthetics. The guide device features two rails to absorb forces acting on the headrest box in various directions, ensuring stability and safety during use.
