A recently granted patent (Publication Number: US11993141B2) discloses a vehicle body structure for a motor vehicle that includes a floor panel forming the vehicle's interior floor surface, a traction motor, and batteries supplying electric power to the motor. The structure comprises right and left side sills, pillars extending upward from the sills, and two battery arrangement portions - one near the pillars and the other at the center below the floor panel. Notably, the front seat is attached to a floor panel without batteries, positioned lower than other floor panels.

Additionally, the patent details a floor tunnel portion bulging upward at the center of the floor panel, with the second battery arrangement portion located inside it. The first battery arrangement portion is positioned outside the floor tunnel portion. The structure also includes a battery case housing the batteries, fixed to either the floor panel or side sills, with the batteries arranged in a specific configuration. The design ensures that the lower portions of the battery arrangement portions align with the height of the first floor panel, maintaining a uniform level throughout the structure.
