Troy, Michigan-based PPG Total Service Solutions (PPGTSS) recently signed a contract with Wuxi Vehicle Body Co. to provide the vehicle manufacturer with a chemical and process management programme for the paint shop at its facility in Wuxi, China.

Work began on the supplier’s first comprehensive product and service programme in China last March.
PPGTSS is providing the facility which produces all indirect materials and chemicals associated with the coatings application process, including ‘detackification’ and paint line cleaning solvents, consumables and lab equipment. In addition to the programme, PPG, which specialises in transportation industry coatings, is also supplying all the materials required for the coatings application process.
“With a knowledgeable on-site team to manage and maintain its paint line, the Wuxi Vehicle Body Co. will be able to better focus on manufacturing vehicles.” said the firm’s global director Scott Follett.
The supplier now operates more than 100 service programmes in 12 countries.
The programmes, uniquely offered by the global coatings supplier, provide its customers with ‘turn-key’ outsourcing for chemical and fluid management, process management and logistics. Paint booth maintenance chemicals, paint detackification products, purge solvents and paint line cleaners and personnel can also be provided.
