The facility currently employs about 1,750 people and the €160 million investment includes factory renovation, new machinery, equipment and tooling to support new processes.

“The Strasbourg team has a history of producing world class GM transmissions and this new six-speed will continue that tradition.” said Strasbourg plant manager Marc Schiff.

The plant currently produces GM’s 5L40E (five-speed rear-wheel-drive) transmission used in luxury sedans, performance cars and sport-utility vehicles and the Strasbourg facility also houses the carmaker’s European technical centre for the development of automatic transmissions.
