The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA) said it has learned of nine additional incidents involving Waymo and its self-driving vehicles, Reuters reports.

Earlier this month the NHTSA said its preliminary evaluation focused on “behaviour causing single-party crashes and potential traffic safety violations” and was looking into an estimated 444 Waymo vehicles following 22 incidents, including 17 collisions.
In a recent letter to Waymo released last week, the US safety agency said it has learned of nine additional similar incidents: “Although this office is unaware of injury, allegations, several of the incidents involved collusions clearly visible objects that a competent driver would be expected to avoid.”
It asked Waymo to answer a series of questions by 11 June about the incidents, and to also provide videos for all of the incidents.
Waymo did not immediately provide comment to Reuters.
Earlier this month the firm it did not address specific safety incidents cited by NHTSA but said it was “proud of our performance and safety record over tens of millions of autonomous miles driven.”
