Canada-based Magna International, one of the world’s leading automotive suppliers, has announced plans to open a new 22,000m2 manufacturing facility in Kechnec, Slovakia. The plant will produce advanced driver-assistance systems as well as electric vehicle technologies for European and global clients.

The company plans to create 100 new jobs by the time operations start in the fourth quarter of 2022, and is currently hiring for managers, engineers, operators and more. It expects to employ up to 600 people at the site by 2027.

In a press release, Sharath Reddy, senior vice-president of Magna Electronics, commented: “This new facility is a key milestone for Magna in supporting the increasing effort toward vehicle electrification and autonomy. With a skilled talent pool in the region and it being conveniently situated close to other Magna divisions to optimise delivery times, Kechnec is an ideal location to bolster our capabilities in Europe.”
