Teleflex Automotive, one of the world’s largest vehicle component manufacturers, has awarded a major order to Remploy Automotive to assemble and supply over 105,000 pedal box units which for vans built in Europe for Vauxhall, Opel, Nissan and Renault.

The pedal box units – which house brake and clutch pedals – are a safety critical feature of vehicles and have to be built to very demanding standards.
Parts are shipped from Teleflex Automotive manufacturing sites in Sweden to Remploy Automotive’s Coventry factory, where special production cells have been introduced.
The assembled units are delivered to General Motors Europe’s IBC Vehicle van operation in Luton and are also shipped to Nissan’s van plant in Barcelona, Spain.
Two shifts have been created at Remploy’s Coventry factory to deal with the order. This is the first contract Remploy Automotive has won from Teleflex Automotive.
Remploy Automotive is part of Remploy Limited, the largest provider of jobs for disabled people in the UK. Nearly all the employees of Remploy Automotive are disabled.
The parts are fitted to Vauxhall and Opel Vivaro and Renault Trafic and Nissan Primastar panel vans sold throughout Europe.
Key account manager Bryan Fisher said: “This is an important contract and an excellent example of where we can play a vital role adding value between a major supplier to the automotive industry and the vehicle manufacturer.
“Remploy Automotive is increasingly being asked to do this type of work, often involving us procuring parts as well as managing the complete supply chain to the end user.”
