BMW reportedly said on Wednesday it was not involved in any talks to build a car factory in Poland, denying a report in business tabloid Puls Biznesu.

Reuters said Puls quoted Erich Papke, head of the company’s Polish operations, as saying BMW was in talks to build a factory in southern Poland but BMW representatives in both Munich and Warsaw denied the report.
“At the moment there is no consideration of building a new production site,” a BMW spokesman at the group’s Munich headquarters told Reuters, adding that the company had 23 factories in 14 countries which provided enough capacity.
A BMW Poland spokeswoman reportedly said Papke had been misquoted.
“Puls Biznesu conducted an interview on a completely different topic…(Papke) said the concern is conducting talks everywhere, looking at the possibilities for component production and suppliers,” Diana Lyznik told Reuters.
She reportedly said any talks going on in Poland were at the same level as anywhere else in the world.
Reuters noted that Fiat and General Motors’ Opel unit already produce cars in southern Poland, while Audi runs a factory in fellow EU newcomer Hungary.
