Some 2003 and 2004 model year Focus cars are fitted with heating pads that are not properly bonded to the lower seat foam, potentially leading to uneven seat heating, Ford spokesman Glenn Ray told the news agency. “What can happen is it can become too hot,” Ray said.

Reuters noted that earlier models of the Focus have been plagued by recalls, but the cars have been relatively trouble-free in recent years. Focus vehicles from the 2000 model year have already been recalled 13 times. About 261,000 2000 model year vehicles are also being investigated by US safety regulators for faulty door latches.
