Ford on Monday said it had stopped production at its assembly plant in Georgia for at least a day because of lack of parts, according to Reuters.

“There is a parts shortage,” Ford spokeswoman Anne Booker told the news agency. “Production is suspended for today.”


The plant, based in Hapeville, employs about 2,200 making Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable cars, Reuters noted.


Booker reportedly declined to give details on the shortage or say when production would resume. “They are now trying to get the parts,” she said on Monday.


All the salaried employees and skilled trades people were working, Booker told Reuters.
