The original Frontera model goes back to the early 1990s and was one of the early crossover SUVs in the European market (and made at a General Motors JV – IBC – in the UK). The Isuzu Rodeo-based Frontera was axed at the end of 2003.

With the arrival of the next Frontera and next-generation Grandland, all Vauxhall/Opel cars and vans on sale in Europe will be available with a fully electric version by the end of 2024.

Opel CEO Florian Huettl said: “The name ‘Frontera’ is ideally suited to our new exciting SUV model. It will have a confident character and be positioned right in the core of the market.”

Opel/Vauxhall will reveal the first images of the new Frontera ‘in the coming weeks’.
