The model, with the project name of NCV 3, will supply the local market but most will be exported.

The NCV 3, which will replace the current Sprinter van, will also be made in Ludwigsfelde, Germany, and will be introduced in the next year.

In Argentina, the new model will be produced in the Juan Manuel Fangio plant, in Buenos Aires, which makes the current Sprinter van line in both left and right hand drive form and as an urban bus chassis. Argentina supplies the Sprinter van line to Latin America, the near Orient, Africa, Asia and Oceania.

A production capacity of 20,000 units a year is targeted for the new model line.

Last year, DaimlerChrysler produced 13,556 vehicles in Argentina up a huge 79.8% on the 7,538 units made in 2003.
