HM has been a regular engine supplier to Ford India as the company currently sources the 1.3- and 1.6-litre Rocam petrol engines for its Ikon sedan model from the company, which has helped Ford to contain prices significantly.

Ford also offers a 1.8-litre diesel engine in the Ikon, importing it from the Dagenham plant in the UK.

For the Fusion, which will also debut with a high level of local content, HM will supply the same 62bhp 1.3-litre petrol engine and add the 68bhp 1.4 TDCi engine to its list of engines supplied to Ford. The diesel will be same specification as in the UK.

HM has been able to offset some of its car division losses through the success of its engine plant which also assembles motors for GM and Mahindra.
