December 2023 registrations of 9,768 were 17.5% lower than a year ago while the full year tally – 149,006 – was off 9.5%.

With the end of the Clean Car Discount, it was unsurprising December was a record month and 2023 a record year for low emission vehicle (LEV) registrations which accounted for 72.5% of the month total and 45% for the full year.

Overall market leaders in December 2023 were Toyota with 19.4% market share, Ford (9%) and MG (8.2%).

For the year they were Toyota (21.7%), Ford (10.9%) and Mitsubishi (9%).

The top selling light passenger models in 2023 were the Toyota RAV4 (8,757 units), Outlander (4,058) and Tesla Model Y (3,936).
