Associated Press (AP) reports that Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp (SAIC) will launch its first own brand sedan at the end of 2006 or in the first quarter of 2007 at the latest.

The report said the new model will be developed on the Rover 75 core technology, but with brand-new vehicle appearance. SAIC has determined the sample sedan, and is waiting for the approval from the National Development and Reform Commission, the AP report said.
