Closure would affect 230 jobs.

The Crevalcore factory makes plastic components and processes aluminium ICE components.

In a statement, Marelli said the decision was due to “the lack of new business due to the reduction of investments by automotive players in internal combustion engines”.

It estimated volume and revenue at the plant would have continued to drop and expected capacity utilisation would have been no more 30%.

Marelli plans to move plastic component production to its Bari plant in southern Italy while aluminium production would be outsourced.
