Including last week’s estimates, calendar year North American output now totals 12,997,945 vehicles, down 0.1% from like-2004’s pace.


In the US, automakers were expected to produce 243,053 vehicles last week, down 2.5% from the 249,314 cars and trucks built the previous week. To date, calendar 2005 U.S. vehicle output totals an estimated 9,636,911 units, up 0.1% compared to the 9,629,752 vehicles built in like-2004.


Last week’s Canadian vehicle production was estimated at 50,336, an increase of 5.5% from the 47,709 units assembled the previous week. Estimated calendar 2005 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 2,087,888 units, down 2.9% compared to the 2,149,921 vehicles produced in like-2004.


Of the cars and trucks slated for production last week in the US, General Motors Corp. accounted for 29.3%; Ford Motor Co., 23.8%; Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 11.2%; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 7.3%; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 7.3%; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 7.0%; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 4.0%; AutoAlliance International Inc., 2.0%; Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc., 1.2%; BMW of North America Inc., 1.0%; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 0.9%; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of DaimlerChrysler, 0.8%; and other manufacturers, 4.2%.
