World champion racer Justin Bell has interviewed the founder of EV start-up Faraday Future YT Jia at the 72nd Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the annual California-based event showcasing the world’s most luxurious and historic cars.

The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is known for attracting collectors and enthusiast alike, but it is also a hotspot for automaker top bosses, such as start-up Lucid’s CEO Peter Rawlinson. He recently told Yahoo Finance at the event that the firm was back to its original pricing, after making cuts.

Faraday Future’s founder, YT Jia, was also interviewed there.

Kicking off the interview, Justin Bell asked YT Jia what it was like to have his car at the show. “We hope our presence here serves as a […] bridge to the future,” Jia replied.

“Faraday Future aims to write the history of the future with our Ultimate AI TechLuxury.” He added that the start-up wanted to change “traditional perceptions”.

Bell also sat down with Sandra Button, chairperson of the Pebble Beach event, and asked for her thoughts.

“The car industry has changed beyond your imagination,” he said. “Can you imagine vehicles like […] the Faraday Future vehicles, could they be on the [Pebble Beach] field 50 years from now?”

“Absolutely”, she said.

Faraday Future was founded in 2014 and is headquartered in Los Angeles, California. It listed on the Nasdaq in 2021, and its first EV, the FF 91 was unveiled in 2017.

It reportedly garnered 64,000 reservations in 36 hours. However, in 2022, its financial report showed it only had 401 reservations for its FF 91.

It had promised to start making vehicles as early as 2018, but was hit by delays due to “funding shortfalls.”

In March this year, FF finally announced it had started production of its FF 91 Futurist model.

Pre-orders for the FF 91 2.0 Futurist Alliance – which was at the 2023 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance – start at $309,000.
