Vehicle production last week in the U.S., Canada and Mexico is estimated at 357,075 units, up 6.4 percent from the 335,573 cars and trucks built the previous week, according to WardsAuto.com. Including last week’s estimates, calendar year North American output now totals 8,224,511 vehicles, down 1.4 percent from like-2004’s pace.

In the U.S., automakers are estimated by Ward’s to have produced 263,576 vehicles last week, up 3.6 percent from the 254,474 cars and trucks built the previous week. To date, calendar 2005 U.S. vehicle output totals an estimated 6,119,736 units, down 1.2 percent compared to the 6,193,566 vehicles built in like-2004.


Last week’s Canadian vehicle production is estimated at 62,396 units, an increase of 26.4 percent from the 49,354 units assembled the previous week. Estimated calendar-2005 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 1,340,895 units, down 3.5 percent compared to the 1,389,767 vehicles produced in like-2004.


Of the cars and trucks slated for production last week in the U.S., General Motors Corp. accounted for 26.5 percent; Ford Motor Co., 25.5 percent; Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 14.9 percent; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 7.2 percent; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 7.4 percent; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 6.1 percent; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 3.7 percent; BMW of North America Inc., 0.9 percent; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 0.7 percent; AutoAlliance International Inc., 2.5 percent; Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc., 1.0 percent; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of DaimlerChrysler, 0.4 percent; and other manufacturers, 3.2 percent.
