Toyota began selling its redesigned Alphard and Vellfire petrol and hybrid-electric (HEV) minibuses in Japan this week with plug in hybrid (PHEV) models set to follow in coming months.

Toyota first launched the Alphard in 2002 during a wave of minivan popularity and the fourth generation models on sale this week came after an eight year model cycle. They were designed with a particular focus on passenger comfort under the ‘“’the joy of comfortable mobility’ slogan which was reflected in the new platform design with reduced noise and vibration and improved driving dynamics and fuel economy.
