Three Japanese car makers have raised their 2004 sales targets in Europe on the back of robust sales, CBS Marketwatch reported.

The report said Toyota raised its European sales target for 2004 to more than 900,000 units from 860,000 after selling 850,000 cars last year.

Meanwhile, Honda reportedly said it raised its European sales target this year to 250,000 vehicles from 240,000.

And Mitsubishi Motors, Japan’s only unprofitable automaker, upgraded its 2004 European sales estimate to 240,000 units, up 12.1% from 214,000 last year.

Mitsubishi Motors posted increased sales of its Space Star minivan and L200 pickup truck this year, its spokesman in Tokyo told CBS Marketwatch.
