The company said the Sky would make its debut at Detroit’s North American International Auto Show in January, Reuters reported.

The rear-wheel drive two-seater – to be built at GM’s Wilmington, Delaware, assembly plant – would be available from Saturn dealers from early 2006, GM reportedly said.

Reuters noted that Saturn, which is key to GM’s attempts to compete in a crowded marketplace, is expected to post weaker US sales this year but the addition of four new vehicles is expected to boost sales by more than a third by the end of 2007.
