Kia Motors overseas retail sales of passenger cars and light trucks rose 19.9% year on year in September 2005 to 76,531 units, representing a 19.9% year-on-year increase.

Year to end-September exports were up 19.1% to 614,386.

September sales grew 44.0% in Europe, 10.9% in the ‘general market’, and 2.1% in North America compared to the same period last year.

Kia’s best selling export in both September and the nine months was the C-segment Cerato (Spectra) with 91,071 units, followed by the A-segment Picanto (88,160), and Sorento SUV (86,450).

Kia said the sales increase has been driven by continued strong sales of the recently launched redesigned Sportage SUV and a good initial buyer reaction to the recently launched redesigned B-segment Rio sedan and hatchback.
