Transmission supplier Getrag is forecasting sales to increase from €2,400 million this year to €4,200 million by 2010, according to Automobilwoche, which interviewed managing director Dieter Schlenkermann.
The forecast is based on existing orders and means that production of transmission sets should rise from 3.5 million a year to 4.2 million. An increasing proportion of these will be four-wheel drive transmissions.
Growth will also come from dual clutch transmissions, which are expected to be adopted first in Europe, then in north America and the Far East.
