Including last week’s estimates, calendar year North American output now totals 7,186,571 vehicles, down 2.2% from like-2004’s pace.


In the US, automakers were expected to produce 206,183 vehicles last week, down 4.3% from the 215,394 cars and trucks built the previous week. To date, calendar 2005 US vehicle output totals an estimated 5,351,963 units, down 2.2% compared to the 5,474,198 vehicles built in like-2004.


Last week’s Canadian vehicle production was estimated at 62,881, an increase of 22.4% from the 51,369 units assembled the previous week. Estimated calendar-2005 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 1,165,446 units, down 3.7% compared to the 1,210,423 vehicles produced in like-2004.


Of the cars and trucks slated for production last week in the US, General Motors Corp. accounted for 28.3%; Ford Motor Co., 24.6%; Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 13.7%; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 7.3%; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 7.9%; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 6.2%; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 3.4%; BMW of North America Inc., 1.1%; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 0.6%; AutoAlliance International Inc., 2.5%; Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc., 1.0%; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of DaimlerChrysler, 0.4%; and other manufacturers, 3.0%.
