UK car manufacturer Rover has cut production levels of its leading Rover 75 model by almost 75 per cent, writes the UK’s Daily Telegraph (4/10/00).
Citing Rover, the Telegraph says that the company plans to produce 3,000 Rover 75 cars at its Longbridge site, near Birmingham in the final three months of the year. Production at Longbridge – having moved from Cowley, Oxford, where the company averaged 1,000 cars per week, reaching 2,200 units at its height – begins this week, according to the newspaper.

Quoting company spokeswoman Angela Wigley, the article says that production was cut because Rover needed time to bring the new Longbridge site up to speed.
