Porsche expects to increase car sales in its domestic market in the current fiscal year ending July 2006, it said on Monday.

“I’m confident that we will continue to grow in our home market in the new fiscal year,” Porsche Germany’s managing director Bernhard Maier said in a statement cited by Reuters.

Following a record August with registrations of new Porsches rising by 10.5% to 727 vehicles, the carmaker expects to benefit from the November launch of its new Cayman S mid-engine coupe and the October roll-out of the Carrera 4 and 4S all-wheel drive versions of its latest 911 generation, the report noted.

Reuters said tat Porsche posted a record 2004/05 in Germany, as new registrations gained by 10.6% to 16,926 units – the fifth straight annual rise in sales despite a domestic market that has been on the decline for years. Most of its growth in Germany last year, however, was due to sales of its low-margin Boxster roadster, which rose nearly 38% versus 10.7% for the 911. Its Cayenne SUV suffered a marginal 1% decline in sales.
