Vehicle deliveries by Volvo, the world’s second-biggest truck maker, rose 20% year-on-year in January to the end of August, the company reportedly said on Monday. The rise was the same as registered in January to July.

According to Reuters, Volvo said in a statement that deliveries of its Mack brand rose 55%, totalling 23,675 units.

“The deliveries figures continue to reflect the strong order intake seen in the first part of 2005. Buying interest remains high among customers in Mack’s core segments of construction, refuse and economic haul,” the group said.

Reuters said Renault Trucks was up 10% to 46,835 units, with the biggest increase seen in markets outside Europe.

North America registered a rise of 66% while South America rose 75%.
