Including last week’s estimates, calendar year North American output now totals 9,299,867 vehicles, down 0.9% from like-2004’s pace.


In the US, automakers were expected to produce 241,537 vehicles last week, up 31.1% from the 182,244 cars and trucks built the previous week. To date, calendar 2005 US vehicle output totals an estimated 6,915,243 units, down 0.7% compared to the 6,963,081 vehicles built in like-2004.


Last week’s Canadian vehicle production was estimated at 55,747, an increase of 60.8% from the 34,667 units assembled the previous week. Estimated calendar-2005 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 1,491,827 units, down 3.9% compared to the 1,552,794 vehicles produced in like-2004.


Of the cars and trucks slated for production last week in the US, General Motors Corp. accounted for 28.4%; Ford Motor Co., 25.0%; Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 11.7%; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 7.9%; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 7.3%; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 6.4%; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 3.6%; BMW of North America Inc., 1.1%; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 0.8%; AutoAlliance International Inc., 2.6%; Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc., 1.1%; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of DaimlerChrysler, 0.5%; and other manufacturers, 3.6%.
