Including last week’s estimates, calendar year North American output now totals 9,641,676 vehicles, down 0.7% from like-2004’s pace.
In the US, automakers were expected to produce 247,492 vehicles last week, up 3.3% from the 239,701 cars and trucks built the previous week. To date, calendar 2005 US vehicle output totals an estimated 7,160,185 units, down 0.6% compared to the 7,202,149 vehicles built in like-2004.
Last week’s Canadian vehicle production was estimated at 55,525, an increase of 0.3% from the 55,371 units assembled the previous week. Estimated calendar-2005 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 1,552,681 units, down 3.4% compared to the 1,607,939 vehicles produced in like-2004.
Of the cars and trucks slated for production last week in the US, General Motors Corp. accounted for 29.3%; Ford Motor Co., 22.5%; Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 15.1%; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 7.7%; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 7.1%; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 6.4%; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 3.2%; AutoAlliance International Inc., 1.9%; Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc., 1.1%; BMW of North America Inc., 1.0%; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 0.8%; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of DaimlerChrysler, 0.4%; and other manufacturers, 3.5%.
