Unionised workers at Volkswagen’s Mexico plant restarted salary talks with management on Monday but were still waiting for an offer from the automaker three days before a strike deadline, according to Reuters.

Union spokesman Miguel Angel Galan told the news agency the workers had lowered their salary demands to a 10% increase from 12.5% previously.
Reuters said the salary talks are taking place in the labour ministry, which is a common conciliation point for labour disputes.
The report said a strike deadline has been set for 1100 local (4pm GMT) on Thursday and noted that, last year the Puebla plant workers went on strike for four days before agreeing to a 4.5% wage increase, plus 1.6% extra in benefits.
