Including last week’s estimates, calendar year North American output now totals 10,272,336 vehicles, down 1.0% from like-2004’s pace.
In the US, automakers were expected to produce 250,030 vehicles last week, up 3.1% from the 242,595 cars and trucks built the previous week. To date, calendar 2005 US vehicle output totals an estimated 7,645,834 units, down 0.5% compared to the 7,685,886 vehicles built in like-2004.
Last week’s Canadian vehicle production was estimated at 53,393, a decrease of 0.4% from the 53,595 units assembled last week. Estimated calendar-2005 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 1,640,103 units, down 4.8% compared to the 1,722,255 vehicles produced in like-2004.
Of the cars and trucks slated for production last week in the US, General Motors Corp. accounted for 29.1%; Ford Motor Co., 21.8%; Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 15.0%; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 7.6%; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 7.0%; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 6.6%; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 3.3%; AutoAlliance International Inc., 2.2%; Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc., 1.0%; BMW of North America Inc., 1.1%; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 0.7%; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of DaimlerChrysler, 0.9%; and other manufacturers, 3.7%.
