Dan Morris — currently executive officer, president and CEO of Mazda Motor Europe — has been promoted to managing executive officer, and will remain as the top of Mazda in Europe, a position he has held since May 2003. Prior to that, Morris was vice president of sales.
During a press conference on Thursday to announce Mazda’s latest financial results, president and CEO Hisakazu Imaki said: “Performance during the period was driven mostly by the successful launches of new products, notably the RX-8 and 3. This resulted in strong overall sales in key markets, but especially in Europe, which emerged as one of the company’s best performers during the period.”
For the calendar year to 31 December 2003, Mazda Motor Europe recorded a sales increase of 25.8%, which was nearly 20% of Mazda Motor Corporation’s total sales for the period.
