Dow Jones reports that Japan’s transportation ministry has said that it has cautioned Volkswagen Group Japan for taking too long to issue recalls on problems involving 21,304 of its cars.
The Japanese unit of Germany’s Volkswagen AG issued recalls Monday, filing reports with the ministry, on the Polo GTI and New Beetle for problems involving clutch pedals and brake lamps, according to the firm’s website, Dow Jones said.
A ministry official said some complaints came directly to the ministry and that the company received 52 complaints over the two models, some dating back as far as June 2001, the report added.
