Garmin spokesman Gary Kelley claimed his company’s products “…are highly sought after in Europe because they are easy to use, require no installation, and allow drivers to find their destination quickly and hassle-free.”


The StreetPilot is one of a number of models from both Garmin and rival makers such as Tom Tom that fit on a suction-mount cradle attached to the vehicle windscreen and are powered from a 12-volt outlet.


In addition to regional detailed maps included with the unit as standard, the StreetPilots being sold through German Ford dealers have a ‘basemap’ of Europe, the Near East and Africa.
